Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2025
1. About Cookcart
Cookcart is a mobile application that allows users to save, create, and manage recipes and grocery lists. It is developed and operated by an independent developer. By using Cookcart, you enter into an agreement with us under these Terms of Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Cookcart. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.
3. Your account
You can sign in to Cookcart using your Google account. By doing so, you authorise us to access the basic profile information provided by Google (your name, email address, and profile photo) for the purpose of creating and maintaining your account.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or are used for any unlawful purpose.
4. User content
Cookcart allows you to create, upload, and store content including recipes, grocery lists, and photos ("User Content"). You retain ownership of all User Content you create.
By uploading User Content, you grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the app's functionality to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any other purpose.
Recipes can be set to private (visible only to you), club (visible to members of clubs you share to), or public (visible to all Cookcart users). You are responsible for choosing the appropriate visibility setting for your content. By setting a recipe to public, you grant other Cookcart users the ability to view and save a reference to that recipe within the app.
You agree not to upload content that:
- Infringes the intellectual property rights of others
- Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory
- Contains viruses or malicious code
- Violates the privacy of others
We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these terms.
5. Recipe imports and scanning
Cookcart allows you to import recipes from third-party websites and scan paper recipes using your camera. You are responsible for ensuring that any recipes you import or scan are used in accordance with the original source's terms and copyright. Cookcart is a personal tool — imported recipes are stored privately in your account and are not redistributed by us.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Certain features of Cookcart may require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed through Google Play Billing. All payments are processed by Google — we do not collect or store your payment information directly.
Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period and are non-refundable except where required by law. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Google Play Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use Cookcart only for lawful personal purposes. You must not:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app
- Use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our servers or systems
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the app or its infrastructure
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the app
- Use the app for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
8. Intellectual property
The Cookcart app, including its design, code, branding, and original content, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without our express written permission.
The Cookcart name and logo are our property. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our branding.
9. Third-party services
Cookcart integrates with third-party services including Google Sign-In, Google Cloud Vision, and Supabase. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.
Cookcart may allow you to import recipes from third-party websites. We are not affiliated with those websites and are not responsible for their content or availability.
10. Disclaimers
Cookcart is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Recipe content within the app — whether created by you, imported, or scanned — is for personal reference only. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, safety, or suitability of any recipe or nutritional information.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Cookcart, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or personal injury.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.
12. Account deletion and data
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account). Upon deletion, all your personal data, recipes, grocery lists, and uploaded photos will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users within the app. Continued use of Cookcart after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Cookcart shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in your local jurisdiction.
